Member rates are available for many classes and events. Select a membership option as you fill out the form and use the member rates on the form.  Your member benefits begin immediately!

    Experience dynamic learning environments through LEARN517, a homeschool partnership program that explores a monthly theme through the disciplines of art, science, nature, and history. Each program partner hosts a 1:30-3 p.m. Thursday homeschool session based on the following calendar:

    October: Geology & Fossils                        

    November: Food                                

    December: World Cultures                         

    January: Animals & Habitat 

    February: Transportation                     

    March: Kinetic Energy

    April: Recycle & Upcycle

    LEARN517 sessions meet each Thursday of the month at the following venues: REACH Art Studio (Week 1), Woldumar Nature Center (Week 2), Impression 5 Science Center (Week 3),  and Michigan History Center (Week 4). Sessions are from 1:30-3 p.m. and designed for homeschool families with children ages 6-11 (other ages welcome).

    Woldumar Session Information:

    Meet in Visitor Center

    Program for students 1st to 5th. Adults must accompany students for the whole lesson. 

    For over 50 years, Woldumar Nature Center has provided the Greater Lansing Community with unique educational experiences in science and nature. Explore the great outdoors and learn more about Michigan natural sciences as you hike our trails, view demonstrations, and perform experiments with our staff naturalists.

    November - Wilderness Survival 

    December - Reflections of a Pioneer Child

    January - Animal Homes and Niches 

    February - Snowshoeing 

    March - Plants and Animals on the Move

    April - Recycling in Nature 

    Cost: $5.00 per student, multiple students in family only $4.00 per student

    Interested in the fungus among us?

    Led by Rebecca Shay and Sara Getson graduate students at Michigan State University and members of Graduate Women in Science. This program will introduce the basics of fungal biology and mushroom identification. Followed by a foray around Woldumar, and an identification session of your lucky finds.

    This program is open to all ages who are able to safely walk our trails. Please wear appropriate clothing to be outside and footwear to hike in. We will have the program rain or shine but if it looks like severe weather is in the forecast we will reschedule the program.

    Proceeds go to support the mission of Woldumar and GWIS.
